Position Summary:
The Assistant Professor in General Surgery will be responsible for teaching, research, and clinical duties within the Department of General Surgery. The role involves providing high-quality education to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, conducting research, and delivering clinical services. The Assistant Professor will work under the supervision of senior faculty members and collaborate with other departments to enhance the educational and clinical experience of students.

Key Responsibilities:


Teaching:
Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Develop and update course materials, including syllabi, handouts, and presentations. Assess and evaluate students' performance through exams, assignments, and practical assessments. Mentor and guide students in their academic and clinical pursuits.

Clinical Duties:
Provide surgical care to patients in the affiliated teaching hospital. Perform surgeries, manage postoperative care, and participate in surgical rounds. Supervise and train residents and interns during their clinical rotations. Participate in on-call duties as required by the department.

Research:
Conduct original research in the field of general surgery. Publish research findings in reputable medical journals. Present research at national and international conferences. Apply for research grants and funding opportunities.

Administrative Duties:
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development. Assist in the organization of academic events such as workshops, seminars, and conferences. Engage in activities that promote the department and college's mission and vision. Maintain accurate records of academic and clinical activities.

Professional Development:
Stay updated with the latest advancements in general surgery and medical education. Participate in continuous medical education (CME) programs and faculty development initiatives. Engage in collaborative research and clinical projects with other institutions.

Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
MBBS from a recognized institution. MS in General Surgery or an equivalent degree.

Experience:
Minimum of 1-4 years of teaching and clinical experience in general surgery. Demonstrated ability to conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in mentoring and guiding medical students and residents.

Skills:
Strong teaching and presentation skills. Excellent clinical and surgical skills. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and hospital staff. Strong organizational and administrative skills. Proficiency in using medical and educational technology.
