Role Overview
We are hiring creative and detail-oriented Junior Fashion Designers for leading export and textile company in Kolkata. You will assist in conceptualizing seasonal collections, creating detailed tech packs, and coordinating with sampling units to bring designs to life.
Kolkata is a major hub for garment manufacturing and exports โ this role offers exposure to both domestic trends and international buyer requirements. Ideal for graduates from NIFT, NID, Pearl, or other fashion institutes with 0โ3 years experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Create mood boards, color palettes, and concept presentations for seasonal collections (summer, winter, festive).
- Sketch original designs using Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop; prepare detailed flats and technical drawings with measurements.
- Research global fashion trends, fabric innovations, and competitor styles relevant to the Indian and export market.
- Collaborate with sourcing teams to select appropriate fabrics, trims, and embellishments โ experience with Kolkata's textile mills is a plus.
- Coordinate with sampling tailors and pattern masters to develop first samples; suggest alterations for fit and finish.
- Prepare detailed tech packs (bill of materials, stitching specifications, grade rules) for production teams.
- Assist in fittings, revisions, and final approval of garments before bulk production.
- Maintain organized design archives, sample libraries, and design documentation.
- Incorporate feedback from senior designers, merchandisers, and buyers to refine designs.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Degree/Diploma in Fashion Design / Textile Design / Apparel Technology from NIFT, NID, Pearl, or reputed institutes (2022โ2026 batch).
- Experience: 0โ3 years โ freshers with strong portfolios and internships welcome.
- Software skills: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW; knowledge of CAD is a plus.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and fabric properties (woven, knits, denim, silk).
- Ability to create accurate tech packs and specification sheets.
- Knowledge of embroidery, stitching techniques, and surface ornamentation.
- Good eye for color, silhouette, and detail; awareness of current trends.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to work in a team.
- Portfolio showcasing design aesthetic, illustrations, and executed samples (mandatory).
- Experience in export houses or understanding of buyer compliance is an advantage.
