About the Coating Operator Role
Coating Operator runs silicone coating and primer coating machines to apply release coatings on liner papers, BOPP films for pressure sensitive labels.
Responsible for coating weight control, curing oven temperature, web tension and release force testing during 12-hour production shifts.
Key Responsibilities
-
Coating Application Control
Apply silicone coating 0.8-1.5 gsm (gravure method), control primer coating 0.3-0.6 gsm, maintain coating uniformity across web width.
-
Curing Oven Operation
Control curing oven zones (120-160°C for silicone, 80-100°C for primer), maintain web speed 150-300 m/min, ensure complete curing.
-
Web Tension & Speed
Set unwind/rewind tension 1.5-3 PLI, maintain constant coating speed, monitor edge guiding for zero web breaks or wrinkles.
-
Release Force Testing
Test release force every 30 mins (5-50 gf/25mm), check silicone migration, rub-off test, maintain release consistency across production.
-
Machine Changeover
Clean gravure rolls/anilox, flush silicone/primer lines, change coating recipes within 30 minutes, minimize substrate wastage <1.5%.
Candidate Requirements
-
Education
ITI / Diploma in Printing/Plastic Technology or 10th/12th pass with coating machine experience.
-
Experience
1–3 years operating silicone/primer coating machines in release liner/paper or flexible packaging industry.
-
Skills
Coating weight control, curing oven operation, web tension management, release force testing, gravure roll cleaning.
-
Other Requirements
12-hour rotational shifts, solvent/silicone exposure tolerance, normal colour vision, physically fit for machine operation.
