Role Overview

CAD / Die‑line Designer is responsible for structural packaging design and creation of precise dielines and CAD drawings for cartons, sleeves, display units and related packaging components. The role ensures correct dimensions, folds, creases, cut lines, glue flaps and nesting, enabling error‑free die‑making, printing and converting with optimal material usage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structural Design & Dielines
    Design structural concepts and create accurate dielines for mono cartons, corrugated boxes, sleeves, inserts and PDUs as per product dimensions, protection needs and customer specifications.
  • CAD Modeling & Drawings
    Develop 2D CAD drawings and, where required, 3D mockups of packaging structures using software such as ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD or similar tools, including complete fold, cut and crease details.
  • Print & Die‑cut Feasibility
    Check print and die‑cut feasibility on offset/gravure/flexo machines, define bleed, tolerances, gripper/side lay, nicks and stripping details and optimize nesting for material efficiency and machine productivity.
  • Artwork & Graphic Coordination
    Share final dielines with graphic designers, support correct placement of artwork, barcodes and mandatory information, and ensure all graphics stay within safe zones and away from creases and cuts.
  • Sampling & Trials
    Coordinate with sampling/plotter team to develop physical samples, validate fit with product, check assembly and stacking strength and support line trials and transport tests when required.
  • Documentation & Standardization
    Maintain a structured library of approved dielines and CAD drawings, update revision history and develop standard templates based on common packaging styles for repeat use.

Candidate Profile

  • Educational Qualification
    Diploma or Degree in Packaging Technology, Mechanical / Production Engineering, Printing Technology or another CAD‑oriented discipline from a recognized institute.
  • Experience Required
    2–6 years experience as CAD Designer, Structural Packaging Designer or Die‑line Designer in mono carton, corrugated or packaging industry.
  • Technical Skills
    Strong skills in CAD tools (ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD or similar), good understanding of box styles, locking mechanisms, perforations and knowledge of printing, die‑cutting processes and board specifications.
  • Soft Skills
    Good spatial imagination, attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, effective communication with design, production and sales teams and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work Conditions
    General shift with coordination on shop‑floor during sampling and trials, occasional extended hours for urgent developments and preference for Noida/nearby candidates for faster joining.
