Role Overview
Medical Receptionist jobs in Salem for a hospital involve being the first point of contact for patients and visitors, handling registration, appointments and basic information at the reception desk.
You will greet patients, answer phone calls, schedule and confirm appointments, guide patients to the right department and support billing and records teams to ensure smooth front office operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and attendants politely, issue tokens or registration forms and guide them on the process.
- Register new patients and update details of existing patients in the hospital software or register.
- Schedule, reschedule and confirm appointments for OPD, investigations and procedures as per doctor availability.
- Answer incoming calls, share basic information and connect calls to the correct department when required.
- Coordinate with nursing station and doctors to manage patient flow and reduce waiting time in OPD.
- Collect consultation fees or advance payments and coordinate with billing team for invoices and receipts.
- Maintain neat and updated patient files, reports and front office records for easy reference.
- Keep the reception and waiting area clean, organised and patient friendly at all times.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 12th pass; graduates are preferred for Medical Receptionist jobs in Salem hospitals.
- 0–3 years experience as receptionist / front office / medical receptionist; hospital or clinic experience is an added advantage.
- Good communication skills in Tamil and basic English, with a polite and patient‑friendly attitude.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with hospital software or willingness to learn.
- Presentable appearance and willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and rotational weekly off.
