Role Overview

This role is ideal for ITI and Diploma mechanical candidates who want to work in a company environment handling shop floor and utility maintenance. You will support daily mechanical activities, assist in preventive maintenance, and help keep machines and equipment running smoothly.

The position is based in Salem and involves work on production machines, utilities, and material handling equipment under the guidance of senior engineers or supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, and conveyors.
  • Assist in attending breakdown complaints, identifying simple mechanical issues, and supporting repair activities.
  • Help in installation, alignment, and trial running of new machines or mechanical systems as instructed.
  • Check oil levels, greasing points, belt tensions, and general mechanical condition of machines on a regular basis.
  • Follow maintenance instructions, safety procedures, and permit systems while working on running equipment.
  • Update basic maintenance records, report recurring problems, and inform the team about spares or tools required.

Experience and Profile

  • Exposure to industrial, manufacturing, or utility mechanical maintenance is an added advantage.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, basic measuring instruments, and simple lifting or handling devices.
  • Ability to understand instructions from engineers or supervisors and work in rotational shifts if required.
  • Ready to work at the Salem plant or company site and support extended hours during urgent maintenance work.
