Role Overview
Housekeeping Supervisor jobs in Salem for hospitals involve supervising the housekeeping team and ensuring that all wards, ICUs, operation theatres, OPD, corridors and common areas are kept clean and hygienic as per hospital standards.
You will prepare duty rosters, monitor daily cleaning activities, check infection control practices and coordinate with nursing, administration and maintenance teams to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide housekeeping staff on each floor or block and allocate work areas for every shift.
- Prepare and manage duty rosters to ensure adequate housekeeping coverage for wards, ICU, OT, OPD, diagnostics and public areas.
- Conduct regular rounds and inspections to check cleanliness of patient rooms, toilets, waiting areas, lifts and staircases.
- Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection procedures are followed in critical areas as per hospital infection control protocols.
- Check use of correct cleaning agents, mops, machines and colour‑coded tools for different areas.
- Train new housekeeping staff on hospital hygiene standards, waste segregation, bio‑medical waste handling and use of PPE.
- Monitor stock of cleaning materials, linen and housekeeping equipment and raise indents for replenishment on time.
- Attend and resolve housekeeping‑related complaints from patients, attendants, nursing staff and other departments.
- Report maintenance issues like leakages, broken tiles, lights or fixtures to engineering team and follow up till closure.
Candidate Profile
- Any degree / diploma, preferably with hotel management or healthcare housekeeping background.
- 2–6 years experience as Housekeeping Supervisor or Senior Housekeeping Staff, preferably in hospital or healthcare setup.
- Good knowledge of cleaning procedures, hospital infection control practices and waste management.
- Ability to handle a team of housekeeping staff across multiple shifts and maintain discipline and work quality.
- Basic communication skills to coordinate with nurses, doctors, admin staff and patient attenders.
