About the Cook / Chef Role

Hiring experienced Cooks / Chefs in Chennai hotels and restaurants to prepare South Indian, North Indian, Chinese and tandoori dishes as per menu and taste standard of the outlet.

The role includes food preparation, cooking, basic menu support and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene inside the kitchen and work area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation & Cooking

    Prepare ingredients, follow recipes and cook breakfast, lunch and dinner items as per menu, maintaining consistent taste, portion size and presentation.

  • Menu & Special Items Support

    Prepare daily specials, combo items and party orders based on hotel requirement and assist in introducing new dishes after trials and tasting approvals from management.

  • Kitchen Hygiene & Safety

    Maintain cleanliness of cooking area, gas range, tawa, grill and utensils, follow basic food safety practices and ensure proper storage of raw materials and cooked food.

  • Stock & Wastage Control

    Inform management about daily requirement of vegetables, masala and provisions, use ingredients carefully to reduce wastage and help in stock rotation (FIFO).

  • Teamwork & Coordination

    Coordinate with helpers, service staff and cash counter, ensure orders are prepared on time during peak hours and support smooth functioning of kitchen operations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Education

    No specific higher qualification required for cook roles; hotel management or culinary course preferred for chef and head cook positions.

  • Experience

    1–10 years experience as cook or chef in hotel, restaurant, mess, catering or cloud kitchen; exposure to South Indian, North Indian or multi-cuisine cooking as per requirement.

  • Skills

    Good speed in chopping and cooking, knowledge of masala and gravies, understanding of taste balance and ability to handle pressure during busy service hours.

  • Others

    Ready to work in shift timings (morning / evening / night) including weekends and festivals, and follow hotel policies related to hygiene and discipline.
