About the Area Sales Manager – Airtel Role

Airtel is hiring Area Sales Managers in Chennai to lead Fiber broadband and Airtel mobile sales across defined territories, manage a team of sales executives and develop a strong channel partner network.

Candidates with 4+ years in telecom area sales management, experience in managing LCO/dealer channels and a track record of subscriber growth in the Chennai or Tamil Nadu market are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Area Sales Execution

    Plan and execute Airtel broadband and mobile sales activities across assigned Chennai area; set weekly targets for each field executive.

  • Channel Partner Management

    Develop and manage Airtel LCOs, retailers and franchise partners; design channel incentive schemes to maximise outlet-level productivity.

  • Team Leadership

    Lead and coach a team of 8-15 Airtel Sales Executives; conduct daily reviews, field accompaniment and monthly performance assessments.

  • Market Intelligence

    Monitor competitor FTTH and broadband offers in the area; adapt Airtel's local sales strategy and inform product teams of market insights.

  • Revenue & KPI Reporting

    Track area revenue, new connections and churn daily; prepare weekly MIS reports and present area performance to the Airtel Regional Manager.

Candidate Requirements

  • Education

    Any degree from a recognised university; MBA in Sales or Marketing is preferred for Airtel Area Sales Manager roles.

  • Experience

    4-10 years in telecom sales management with at least 2 years managing a team and territory at ASM or team leader level.

  • Channel Expertise

    Experience in developing and managing LCO and dealer networks in Chennai; understanding of Airtel's channel management systems.

  • Leadership

    Proven ability to lead a field sales team; strong communication in and English for team and channel partner engagement.
