About the Ambulance Driver Role
Hiring Ambulance Driver in Chennai for reputed multi-speciality hospitals and emergency medical service providers to handle patient transport for emergency and non-emergency cases within city limits and nearby areas.
The driver will be responsible for safe and timely movement of patients, supporting medical staff during shifting, maintaining ambulance cleanliness and following all hospital protocols and road safety norms.
Key Responsibilities

Emergency & Non-emergency Transport
Drive the ambulance safely for emergency calls, inter-hospital transfers and scheduled pickups, choosing the fastest and safest routes as per hospital instructions.

Patient Handling Support
Assist paramedical staff in lifting, shifting and securing patients on stretcher or wheelchair, ensuring comfort and safety during boarding and off-boarding.

Vehicle Check & Maintenance
Inspect ambulance before each shift, check fuel, tyres, lights and basic mechanical condition, keep the vehicle clean and report any issues to maintenance team.

Documentation & Records
Maintain trip logbook, record patient details, time of call, distance travelled, and get necessary signatures as per hospital policy.

Safety & Protocol Compliance
Follow traffic rules, use siren and warning lights responsibly, coordinate with security and casualty team and adhere to hospital infection control and safety protocols.
Candidate Requirements

Education & License
Minimum 10th pass with valid LMV / transport driving license, clean driving record and familiarity with Chennai city roads and traffic conditions.

Experience
1–5 years experience as ambulance driver / hospital driver / emergency vehicle driver; fresher with good driving experience may be considered for trainee roles.

Skills & Behaviour
Calm under pressure, disciplined driving habits, basic patient handling knowledge, ability to work in rotational shifts, night duty and weekends.

Language
Ability to communicate in Tamil; basic understanding of English or Hindi is an added advantage for interacting with medical staff and attendants.
