About the Smart City / IoT Field Engineer Role
Telecom company executing Smart City projects in Pimpri-and-chinchwad are hiring IoT Field Engineers to deploy and maintain smart poles, environmental sensors, traffic monitoring cameras and LoRaWAN or NB-IoT connectivity equipment.
Candidates with knowledge of IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT), hands-on experience in field sensor installation and familiarity with Linux-based IoT gateways are preferred for these growing roles.
Key Responsibilities
- IoT Device Installation
Install IoT sensors, smart poles, surveillance cameras, environmental monitors and connectivity gateways at designated smart city locations in Pimpri-and-chinchwad.
- Connectivity Commissioning
Commission LoRaWAN, NB-IoT or cellular M2M connections for IoT devices; configure gateways and verify data transmission to cloud platforms.
- Fault Diagnosis & Repair
Diagnose IoT device faults including connectivity loss, sensor malfunctions and gateway failures; restore service within SLA timelines.
- Network & Platform Integration
Ensure IoT devices are correctly onboarded to the smart city platform; verify data accuracy and raise integration issues to the backend team.
- Field Documentation
Maintain accurate installation records, device inventory, GPS coordinates and configuration details for all deployed IoT assets in Pimpri-and-chinchwad.
Candidate Requirements
- Education
B.E./B.Tech in ECE or IT, or Diploma in Electronics from a recognised institution; IoT or embedded systems training is an advantage.
- Experience
2-7 years in IoT field deployment, smart city project execution or telecom field engineering roles in Pimpri-and-chinchwad or Maharastra.
- Technical Skills
Knowledge of IoT communication protocols (LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, MQTT, Zigbee); Linux command line for gateway configuration; basic IP networking.
- Mobility
Two-wheeler licence required; willingness to travel across Pimpri-and-chinchwad for field installations and maintenance of smart city infrastructure.
