Role Overview

Respiratory Therapist jobs in Mumbai for a hospital involve assessing patients with breathing difficulties, managing oxygen therapy and ventilators and providing respiratory care services in ICU, emergency and wards.

You will work with doctors and nurses to plan respiratory treatment, perform procedures like nebulisation, suctioning and arterial blood gas sampling and continuously monitor patient response to therapy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess respiratory status of patients with COPD, asthma, pneumonia, ARDS and other lung conditions in ICU and wards.
  • Set up, operate and monitor mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation as per physician orders and hospital protocols.
  • Administer oxygen therapy, nebulisation and aerosol medications and monitor response and side effects.
  • Assist in intubation, extubation and airway management and perform suctioning to maintain airway patency.
  • Perform and assist in arterial blood gas sampling, interpret basic parameters and communicate critical values to treating team.
  • Check, calibrate, clean and maintain respiratory equipment like ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP machines and humidifiers.
  • Educate patients and families on breathing exercises, inhaler techniques and home-based respiratory care where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of therapies given, ventilator settings and patient progress in hospital records or HIS.

Candidate Profile

  • B.Sc / Diploma in Respiratory Therapy or Respiratory Care Technology from recognised institution.
  • 0–3 years experience as Respiratory Therapist in multispeciality hospital, ICU or critical care setup; freshers can also apply.
  • Knowledge of ventilator modes, oxygen therapy, ABG basics and management of common respiratory emergencies.
  • Ability to work in ICU team, respond quickly in emergencies and follow protocols accurately.
  • Willingness to work in rotating shifts, nights and weekends as per ICU and hospital duty roster.
