Role Overview

Speech Therapist jobs in Kannur for a hospital involve assessing children and adults with speech, language, voice and swallowing difficulties and planning goal‑oriented therapy to improve their communication and feeding abilities.

You will conduct evaluations, design individual therapy plans, provide one‑to‑one or group sessions and guide parents and caregivers on home programs and strategies to support progress outside the therapy room.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess speech, language, articulation, fluency, voice and swallowing functions using standard tests and clinical observation.
  • Prepare individualised therapy plans with measurable goals for children and adults based on assessment findings.
  • Provide speech and language therapy sessions for conditions like delayed speech, autism, stuttering, articulation errors and language disorders.
  • Work with adult patients with stroke, head injury or neurological conditions to improve communication and swallowing safety.
  • Educate and train parents, caregivers and teachers on home practice activities, communication strategies and behaviour management.
  • Maintain detailed therapy notes, progress reports and discharge summaries as per hospital documentation standards.
  • Coordinate with paediatricians, neurologists, ENT specialists, psychologists, occupational therapists and special educators as part of rehab team.
  • Participate in screening camps, awareness programs and parent training workshops related to speech and language development.

Candidate Profile

  • BASLP / B.Sc Speech & Hearing / M.Sc Speech Language Pathology or equivalent from recognised university.
  • 0–3 years experience as Speech Therapist / Speech Language Pathologist in hospital, clinic, rehab centre or special school; freshers can also apply.
  • Interest in working with paediatric speech delay, autism spectrum disorders, learning difficulties and adult neuro cases.
  • Good communication, counselling skills and ability to handle children and families with patience and empathy.
  • Comfortable maintaining records, planning home programs and working in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation setup.
