Assistant Manager - Retail Banking
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Assistant Manager to a private bank in Kannur. The ideal candidate will support branch operations, drive business growth, and deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring compliance with banking regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Branch Manager in daily operations including customer service delivery, staff supervision, and achievement of business targets
- Manage customer relationships and resolve escalated queries and complaints in a timely manner
- Drive sales of banking products including deposits, loans, credit cards, and insurance through cross-selling and upselling initiatives
- Monitor and ensure compliance with RBI guidelines, internal policies, and banking procedures
- Supervise and mentor junior staff members, conduct performance reviews, and identify training needs
- Oversee cash management, vault operations, and reconciliation activities to ensure accuracy
- Review and process loan applications, credit assessments, and documentation within delegated authority
- Coordinate with internal departments for smooth operations and customer service excellence
- Prepare reports on branch performance, customer feedback, and market trends for senior management
Required Qualifications
- Graduate or Postgraduate degree in any discipline (MBA/PGDBA in Finance preferred)
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in retail banking operations, preferably in branch banking
- Strong knowledge of banking products, services, and regulatory requirements
- Proven track record in achieving sales targets and managing customer relationships
- Excellent communication skills in English, Tamil, and Hindi
- Proficiency in MS Office and core banking systems
