Role Overview
As part of Karnataka's technology, aerospace, biotech, and IT services industrial hub, Mysuru offers Optometrist professionals strong prospects for immediate placement and long-term growth.
You will carry out refraction, contact lens trials and basic diagnostic tests, explain reports to patients, guide them in frame and lens selection and educate them on proper eye care and lens maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct contact lens fitting and trials, educate patients on insertion, removal and care of contact lenses.
- Carry out basic diagnostic tests like tonometry, keratometry, visual fields or OCT as per hospital protocols (where trained).
- Support ophthalmologists by preparing patients, explaining procedures and coordinating patient flow in OPD and opticals.
- Advise patients on appropriate frames, lenses, coatings and low‑vision aids based on prescription and lifestyle.
- Maintain accurate records of examinations, prescriptions and follow‑up plans in hospital or optical software.
- Promote eye health by counselling patients on screen use, preventive eye care and importance of regular eye check‑ups.
- Perform detailed eye examinations including visual acuity, refraction, binocular vision and basic ocular health checks.
- Identify refractive errors such as myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism and presbyopia and prescribe suitable lenses.
Candidate Profile
- B.Optom / M.Optom / Diploma in Optometry from recognised institution.
- 0–3 years experience as Optometrist in eye hospital, clinic or optical showroom; freshers with good clinical skills can also apply.
- Strong clinical refraction skills and knowledge of contact lenses, spectacle lenses and basic ocular diseases.
- Good communication skills, patient‑handling ability and interest in counselling and customer service.
- Willingness to work in shifts, weekends and extended hours as per hospital / optical timings.
