Key Responsibilities
- Supervise research projects, theses, and dissertations of postgraduate students and research scholars in specialised areas of biochemistry.
- Guide and mentor junior faculty members in teaching methods, research planning, and academic growth.
- Set and moderate question papers, evaluate answer scripts, and oversee internal assessment and examination processes for the department.
- Teach advanced undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Biochemistry and related life science subjects, ensuring high academic standards in theory and practicals.
- Develop, review, and upgrade course content, syllabi, and practical manuals to align with current scientific advances and regulatory requirements.
Research and Academic Leadership
- Plan and execute independent and collaborative research projects, aiming for regular publications in recognised peer‑reviewed journals.
- Identify funding opportunities and apply for grants to support laboratory infrastructure and research work.
- Build and maintain collaborations with other institutions, research centres, or industry partners in relevant biochemistry areas.
- Represent the department in academic forums, conferences, and professional bodies, enhancing the visibility of the college.
Departmental and Institutional Roles
- Lead departmental meetings, contribute to timetable planning, workload allocation, and long‑term academic planning.
- Serve on key college committees related to academics, research, examinations, or accreditation and support documentation for NAAC or similar frameworks.
- Coordinate and help organise seminars, workshops, conferences, and outreach programmes in biochemistry and allied areas.
Candidate Profile
- Ph.D in Biochemistry or closely related life science discipline from a recognised university, with eligibility as per applicable norms for Professor level.
- Strong and proven record of teaching, research, and publications, with prior experience at Associate Professor or equivalent level.
- Ability to lead a research group, secure funding, and guide multiple research projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, academic leadership, and team‑building skills with a commitment to student and faculty development.
