You will handle advanced theory and practical courses, supervise research projects, mentor junior faculty and students, and support academic planning and quality initiatives of the college.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise student projects, dissertations, and seminars and guide them in literature review, experimental work, data analysis, and scientific writing.
- Conduct and coordinate internal assessments, set question papers, evaluate answer scripts, and support university examination-related work.
- Provide academic guidance and mentoring to students, support career and higher‑study counselling, and help maintain discipline and academic culture in the department.
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Biochemistry, especially advanced and specialised papers, and ensure high academic standards in the classroom and laboratory.
- Design and update course content, lesson plans, and practical manuals in line with university regulations and current developments in biochemistry.
Research and Academic Leadership
- Plan and carry out independent and collaborative research in biochemistry or allied life science areas and work towards regular publications in recognised journals.
- Identify and apply for relevant research grants or funding, and manage sanctioned projects, budgets, and reporting as per norms.
- Guide junior faculty and research scholars in proposal writing, experimental design, and publication of research work.
- Contribute to curriculum development, introduction of new electives, and integration of recent scientific advances into teaching and lab work.
Departmental and Institutional Roles
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, academic planning, timetabling, and coordination of teaching and examination schedules.
- Serve on college committees related to academics, research, student welfare, or accreditation and support documentation for NAAC or other quality frameworks.
- Help organise workshops, conferences, guest lectures, and outreach programmes in biochemistry and related fields.
Candidate Profile
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D) in Biochemistry or closely related life science discipline from a recognised university, with eligibility as per applicable regulatory norms.
- Relevant teaching and research experience at Assistant Professor or equivalent level with a record of publications, projects, or academic contributions.
- Strong subject knowledge in core and applied areas of biochemistry and ability to handle advanced courses and research supervision.
- Good communication, academic leadership skills, and willingness to support the overall growth of the department and institution.
