Key Responsibilities

Supervise and train junior laboratory staff and technicians.
Maintain laboratory records and ensure compliance with NABL / CAP accreditation standards.
Coordinate with infection control team for outbreak investigations and surveillance.
Participate in hospital committees related to infection control and antibiotic stewardship.
Perform microbiological tests on clinical specimens including culture, identification, and antibiotic sensitivity testing.
Analyze and interpret laboratory results and prepare reports for clinicians.
Monitor and implement infection control protocols within the hospital.
Ensure quality control of media, reagents, and equipment used in the microbiology lab.

Candidate Profile

M.Sc in Medical Microbiology / Clinical Microbiology from a recognized university.
3–8 years of experience in a hospital microbiology laboratory.
Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques, culture methods, and antibiotic sensitivity testing.
Experience with automated microbiology systems (VITEK, BD Phoenix, etc.) preferred.
Understanding of infection control practices and hospital epidemiology.
Familiarity with NABL / CAP accreditation standards.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Laboratory Equipment & Tests

Culture & Sensitivity: Bacterial culture, antifungal susceptibility, MIC determination.
Serology: ELISA, rapid tests for infectious diseases.
Molecular Diagnostics: PCR, RT-PCR for viral and bacterial pathogens.
Automated Systems: VITEK, BD Phoenix, BacT/ALERT.
Staining Techniques: Gram stain, AFB stain, fungal stains.
Infection Control: Environmental monitoring, sterilization validation.
